Feelings are part of the human experience—we are designed to feel.
While we can easily label feelings as good or bad, all emotions serve a purpose; they prepare the body to meet a situation with a specific response. Therefore, the dichotomy is not good or bad feelings, rather helpful or unhelpful ways to interpret and respond to them. Allowing ourselves to feel can help us navigate our world in healthier ways. Understanding and making space for our emotions can not only enrich our experiences, but also unlock a deeper understanding of self.

About Me
Chelsea Domanico is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, based in WI but licensed in both WI and IL. Chelsea is also a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C), formally trained and certified to work with perinatal (pregnancy-postpartum) individuals. Chelsea specializes working with perinatal mental health and adolescents through young adults, supporting social/emotional needs and working through life transitions. Chelsea utilizes an integrative, systemic approach individualized for each client. She sees value in exploring the impact ones’ environment and subsystems have on an individual’s behavior and mental wellness. Chelsea applies a strengths-based practice and incorporates mindfulness, behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy. Therapy is a vulnerable and challenging process. Chelsea works to provide an engaging, warm, and safe space in which she empowers individuals to enhance their strengths, interests, and means.
Chelsea has experience working with a diverse population of individuals. She has spent many years working with adolescents and families, and her areas of focus include: perinatal mental health, problem sexual behavior in youth, delinquent/high-risk behavior in youth, trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, parenting, self-esteem, life transitions, gender and sexual identity, relational/family problems, and communication.

Do you ever feel your emotions are out of your control? Maybe you feel extremely irritable, frustrated, or anxious but don’t know why?
People do not often pay attention to or make space for the emotions triggered by daily events-life is busy and we are expected to move from one thing to the next. As a result, consciously or unconsciously, we tend to ignore, avoid, and suppress uncomfortable or big feelings as a way to push through. Ignored emotions don’t just go away, they come back bigger and can show up in unexpected ways. Allowing oneself to feel brings regulation and control to our emotional state. Increasing understanding and acceptance of our emotional range enhances our lived experiences and opens opportunities for growth.
